The Bustard Behind the Scenes!
Ever wondered what the busy and bustling kitchen at The Bustard Inn looks like on the morning of an event? We were honoured to be chosen as Sharon and Mark’s entire wedding venue a few weeks ago and whilst weddings are always a joy to host, it’s also all hands on deck! We have a great team here at The Bustard Inn who love to embrace a challenge so whilst we take all events and perfecting them very seriously, we also do it with a smile on our faces.
Things kicked off early on this particular Saturday. We always encourage exclusive use for weddings at The Bustard Inn but as this wedding did not start until 3pm, we were able to serve lunch to our regular patrons. We try our hardest to keep everyone happy! If you’ve never been in a busy commercial kitchen then dismiss any thoughts of shaker cabinets or toweringly high chef’s hats. Our talented trio are whizzing around at a rate of knots but still remain cool and calm. There are starters being prepared in one corner, a Kitchen Aid folding together what looks like an incredible chocolate creation. There are ovens beeping and timers being set, yet everyone knows exactly what they are doing and where they need to be.
I presumed I’d be in the way whilst observing this, but aside from the occasional shuffle to the side they worked around me as if I was stood in the middle of some cookery carousel. They seem to move as one unit, creating space for one another where they can. Sparring against each other all the way.
There’s no aggression or tension like you usually see on the TV kitchens. There’s simply laughter, a shared ethos to work and an incredible creativity.
